Calling all Animal Lovers
The Zoo Lights in Baltimore features animal shapes and over 100k LED lights that highlight some favorites from the zoo. You can enjoy this after-hours display from the comfort of your vehicle or get some steps in during one of the zoo’s Walk-Thru events. Take the kids to visit Zoo Central for snacks, hot chocolate and carousel rides, weather permitting. Unlimited beer and wine sampling is available for the adults.
Dazzling Light Displays
34th Street in the Hampden neighborhood in Baltimore is a site to see. “The Miracle of 34th Street” light display turns the street into a holiday wonderland. Known as the largest Christmas light display in Maryland, the free event draws people from all over.
Lights on the Bay at Sandy Point State Park has become a tradition for many families over the past 10 years. More than 60 animated and stationary displays can be enjoyed while driving along the shore of the Chesapeake.
In Ocean City, you can walk through thousands of sparkling lights and many animated displays along a paved path in Northside Park.
You can catch more than 300,000 bulbs, larger-than-life animated displays and more at the historic Merriweather Post Pavilion. New lights and a 150 foot screen have been added to the drive-through experience this year.
Enjoy an enchanted woodland setting with 450 illuminated displays on a 3.5 mile drive through Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg. Wind your way through the Winter Woods, Toyland, Victorian Village, the North Pole and more.
Watkin Park in Upper Marlboro features more than 2.5 million lights throughout the park. Check out the giant, 54-foot LED musical tree too!
Take a trip to St. Michaels to check out the Lighted Drive By House Tour, taking place throughout local neighborhoods. A lighted boat parade is set to sail around the St. Michael’s Harbor on December 10th at 6 p.m.
Calling All Boat Lovers
Boat enthusiasts will be in awe at the display of lighted boats that set sail annually on Carroll Creek in downtown Frederick. The fleet of decorated boats, each with a different theme, has grown from one boat the first year to about 25 in 2020. The Sailing Through the Winter Solstice fleet features gaff-rigged ketches, yawls, three-masted schooners, pirate ships and more.
